In this episode, I sat down with Kathleen Prindle, who’s the Head Coach for Performance Aquatics, in South Florida. Kathleen has worked with pretty much all levels of swimming, though her biggest presence is working with Senior level athletes, and helping them succeed at the National and World stages .
She’s also a very active presence on the governance side of the sport, currently holding positions on the Board of Directors of her LSC (that’s short for local swimming committee), USA-Swimming and the American Swim Coaches Association (or ASCA); in fact she actually flips the table and interviews me about my involvement in governance.
This was a great conversation, that did go a little long even for the standards of this podcast, but honestly could have gone for hours more! As always, it’s available on Spotify, Google Podcasts, iTunes, and directly with the player below.
Here are a few links to thinks we talked about on this episode:
- Performance Aquatics
- Facebook’s Swim Coaches Exchange Group (buyer beware here!)
- Post of Facebook about coach Mark Hesse being THE ONE for this year’s USA-Swimming Award (posted only a day after this interview, I second that!)
- ASCA (American Swim Coaches Association)
- YouTube video: Howard Jones “Life in One Day”
- City of Thieves: A Novel (David Benioff)
- Sarah’s Key (Tatiana de Rosnay)
- The Hot Zone: The Terrifying True Story of the Origins of the Ebola Virus (Ricahrd Preston)
- The China Pandemic: A Post-Apocalyptic Medical Techno Thriller Series (A.R. Shaw)
- (note: I’m waiting on Kathleen’s additional list of books, will put it up here as soon as I get them!)
- ISCA (International Swimming Coaches Association)
- @Swim4PAQ (Instagram, Twitter)
And as always, many thanks to my buddy Madu for the great soundtrack I choose for the podcast – check out his Instagram (@machete_bomb_madu) for a ton of great music! And also thanks to Zapslat for the sound effects.
