In this episode, I talked to Coin Faris, who’s the Associate Head Coach for Excel Aquatics, which operates in pools all over middle Tennessee. Prior to his move to Tennessee, Colin worked multiple jobs while part-time coaching, including at the Lexington Dolphins and as volunteer Assistant with Centre College, a DIII school, and before that he swam for the University of Kentucky and was a 2012 Olympic Trials qualifier

Colin was scheduled to be the Head Coach for this year’s Georgia Swimming Age Group Select Camp, which unfortunately was canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemics, which we also talk about in the beginning. He currently serves the Southeastern LSC Board of Directors as the Secretary but has also previously served as Age Group Chair, Camps Chair, & the Southern Zone All Star and Open Water Head Coach.

As a heads-up, the audio on my end of this interview is pretty bad for the first 40 minutes or so, when it miraculously just clears out! I couldn’t figure out how to fix it, but the good news is that the important portion of the interview, which is Colin’s audio, is good all the way through, so I hope you can bear with that old radio inside a box sound for a while, since there’s plenty of good stuff from him – and eventually my voice becomes bearable.

As always, it’s available on Spotify, Google Podcasts, iTunes, and directly with the player below. If you’d like to reach out directly to Colin you can use his email: coachcolin@excelaquatics.org. Here are a few links to thinks we talked about on this episode:

And as always, many thanks to my buddy Madu for the great soundtrack I choose for the podcast – check out his Instagram (@machete_bomb_madu) for a ton of great music! And also thanks to Zapslat for the sound effects.
